Community Justice Authority Legislation


The Community Justice Authorities were formed by an Act of Parliament in 2005 and their strategy was laid out in the National Strategy for the Management of Offenders document produced in 2006. Following a shadow year, the eight Community Justice Authorities became fully operational on 1st April 2007.

Statutory Instruments (SSI) made by the Scottish Executive under powers granted by the Scotland Act 1998, provide the operational detail for a Community Justice Authority (No. 182) and the Members Remuneration (No. 30).
